Project Manager - Mining & Hybrid Energy Projects

The Opportunity

An international renewable energy developer is looking for a seasoned Project Manager to oversee the end-to-end delivery of hybrid energy infrastructure projects within the mining sector.

This role involves leading complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects across solar, thermal, and storage solutions. The successful candidate will coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring that all phases are delivered on time, on budget, and to technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead project execution from early-stage design through to commissioning (COD)

Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and technical partners

Manage project controls: timeline, budget, risks, reporting, and documentation

Oversee system integration of EMS, SCADA, PMS and related interfaces

Ensure technical compliance, permit acquisition, and stakeholder engagement

Track KPIs and performance metrics; propose corrective measures where needed

Contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methods

Candidate Profile

Education

Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Maintenance

Experience

Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the energy sector (EPC or IPP)

Direct experience managing hybrid energy projects for mining clients is essential

Strong understanding of mining-specific energy constraints and operations

Technical Skills

Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Excel)

High-level knowledge of hybrid power solutions and medium voltage systems

Experienced in permitting, compliance, and contract management

Strong technical capabilities with EMS, PMS, SCADA systems and API interfaces

Soft Skills

Leadership and autonomy

Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills

Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving abilities

Ability to operate in high-pressure, multicultural environments

Additional Requirements

Geographical mobility across Africa and internationally as needed

Capacity to work in remote or logistically complex environments

Comfortable engaging with institutions, clients, and cross-functional teams

An international renewable energy developer is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the full EPC lifecycle of hybrid energy projects tailored for the mining industry. These projects typically combine solar PV, thermal generation, battery energy storage, and advanced energy management systems (EMS/SCADA/PMS).

This is a high-responsibility role requiring deep technical knowledge, cross-functional coordination, and proven experience in mining energy infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of delivering resilient, off-grid and grid-connected solutions in complex operating environments.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee technical execution of hybrid energy projects from conceptual design to commissioning (COD), with an emphasis on system integration and technical compliance.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, and construction functions.

Lead engineering design reviews, interface management, and configuration of EMS, SCADA, and PMS systems to ensure seamless plant operations.

Manage technical aspects of permitting, environmental compliance, and mining client specifications.

Maintain project controls related to cost, scheduling, risk mitigation, and performance tracking.

Act as the key technical point of contact for mining clients, grid operators, regulators, and third-party consultants.

Ensure the alignment of engineering deliverables with construction timelines and operational performance KPIs.

Drive continuous improvement in technical execution standards and project delivery methodologies.

Candidate RequirementsEducation & Background

Degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.

Minimum 5 years of EPC or IPP project delivery experience in hybrid or renewable energy systems.

Proven track record managing energy projects within mining environments.

Technical Competencies

Strong knowledge of hybrid system design including PV, thermal gensets, BESS, and MV grid interfaces.

Expertise in EMS, PMS, SCADA architecture and API integration with industrial control systems.

Proficiency in project management software: MS Project, Primavera, Excel.

Familiar with compliance frameworks, permitting processes, and contract management.

Soft Skills

Strong leadership and autonomy in managing multi-site or remote teams.

Effective communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Analytical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot system-level issues and propose technical optimizations.

Comfortable working under pressure in multicultural and logistically complex environments.

Additional Requirements

Willingness to travel and work across Africa and remote mining sites as required.

Role Overview

As the Technical Project Manager, you will be accountable for the technical execution and delivery of utility-scale solar and BESS EPC projects. Your role will span detailed engineering review, contractor management, quality control, construction oversight, and project commissioning. You will also act as a technical interface for stakeholders, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the complete EPC lifecycle of solar PV and battery storage projects, from design through to handover.

Review and validate engineering designs, single-line diagrams, and system integration (PV, BESS, SCADA, MV).

Oversee contractor performance during procurement, civil works, mechanical and electrical installation, and commissioning.

Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering consultants, OEMs, suppliers, lenders' engineers, and government entities.

Monitor technical compliance with grid codes, HSE standards, and environmental regulations.

Lead technical risk assessments and proactively implement corrective actions.

Report on technical progress, quality assurance, and cost control to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

5+ years of EPC or IPP experience in solar PV and battery energy storage systems (utility-scale preferred).

Degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

Strong understanding of hybrid systems, SCADA architecture, EMS/PMS integration, and MV distribution networks.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical workstreams across geographically dispersed teams.

Proficient in project scheduling tools and technical reporting.

Fluent in English; French at a professional level required.

Willingness to travel across project locations as needed.

Compensation & Location

Monthly Salary: €5,000 - €8,000 (Net) + Accommodation

Location: Madagascar (with regional travel)
