We are seeking an experienced Team Lead – Roads & Highways to oversee the delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects from planning through to completion. This role will provide technical leadership, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You will contribute to the development of practical, sustainable solutions for roads, highways and associated infrastructure while maintaining a strong focus on quality, customer requirements and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities will include leading the design and delivery of roads and highways projects; managing project scope, programmes, budgets and resources; and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications and construction documentation. You will guide engineers and other professionals, allocate workloads, provide mentoring and support career development. The role will also involve liaising with clients, contractors, authorities and stakeholders, attending design and progress meetings, identifying risks and resolving technical issues. You will be expected to promote effective communication, maintain accurate project records and ensure that health, safety, environmental and quality standards are consistently applied.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, transportation engineering or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering roads and highways projects. Professional registration or working towards professional registration is desirable. You will need strong knowledge of highway design principles, relevant standards, specifications and approval processes, as well as experience using appropriate design and project management software. Excellent leadership, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across technical disciplines. A proactive approach, commercial awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement will be highly valued.
