We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support the delivery of site development, utilities and infrastructure projects. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for civil construction works, from early feasibility and tender stages through to final submission. Projects may include earthworks, drainage, roadworks, pavements, retaining structures, bulk excavation, stormwater, sewer, water, service relocations and associated infrastructure.
Key responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documents; conducting detailed quantity take-offs; obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations; developing construction methodologies, programmes and resource requirements; and preparing cost plans, budgets and tender submissions. You will identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities, maintain estimating documentation, and work closely with project managers, engineers, surveyors, procurement teams and external stakeholders to clarify scope and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will also contribute to post-tender reviews, estimate reconciliation and continuous improvement of estimating processes.
To be successful, you will have demonstrated estimating experience within civil construction, ideally across site development, utilities or major infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, plant, labour requirements and industry pricing is essential, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings and use estimating, take-off and spreadsheet software. You will be analytical, commercially aware and highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the confidence to build productive relationships with clients, suppliers and delivery teams. Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline will be advantageous.
