We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with a strong structural focus to join a collaborative project team delivering safe, practical and sustainable infrastructure solutions. This role will suit an engineer who enjoys combining technical design expertise with site involvement, problem-solving and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
You will contribute to the design, assessment and delivery of civil and structural works across a varied portfolio of projects. Key responsibilities Develop structural and civil engineering designs for buildings, infrastructure, foundations and associated elements. Prepare calculations, technical specifications, drawings, reports and other design documentation. Undertake inspections, surveys and assessments of existing structures and recommend appropriate solutions. Use engineering software and digital tools to model, analyse and communicate design proposals. Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, geotechnical specialists and other engineering disciplines. Provide technical support during construction, including responding to queries and reviewing proposed changes. Monitor quality, health and safety, environmental considerations and compliance with applicable legislation and design standards. Contribute to project planning, fee estimates, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives. About youYou will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil or structural engineering and have relevant professional experience in a consultancy, contractor or engineering environment. A working knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes and construction processes is essential. Experience with reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, timber or temporary works would be advantageous.
You should be confident producing clear technical information, managing competing priorities and explaining complex engineering matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are required, alongside a proactive approach to learning and professional development.
Membership of a relevant professional institution, or a clear commitment towards professional registration, would be desirable. The role may involve occasional travel to project and construction sites.
