We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for a varied programme of projects. Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, designers, suppliers and clients, you will play a key role in shaping bids from initial enquiry through to contract award. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident estimator who enjoys combining technical understanding, commercial awareness and strategic thinking in a collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work; identifying project requirements, risks, exclusions and opportunities; and producing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and supporting tender submissions. You will obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, challenge assumptions, maintain accurate estimating records and ensure all pricing is prepared within agreed timescales. You will also contribute to value engineering, undertake cost comparisons, prepare risk and opportunity schedules, and present estimates and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Following tender submission, you will support negotiations, respond to clarifications and assist with the handover of successful bids to the delivery team.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a senior estimating role within construction, engineering, infrastructure or a related sector, together with a strong understanding of estimating processes, procurement and cost management. Excellent knowledge of relevant contracts, construction methods, materials and industry standards is desirable. You will be commercially astute, highly organised and confident working with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately under pressure. A relevant technical, commercial or surveying qualification would be advantageous, although equivalent practical experience will be considered. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects, develop your career and work within a supportive, professional team.
