We are seeking a Civil Engineer – Hydrology/Hydraulics, PE to support the planning, design, and delivery of water resources and civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will apply sound engineering judgment to hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, floodplain studies, stormwater management, drainage design, watershed planning, and the evaluation of rivers, streams, culverts, bridges, channels, detention facilities, and related infrastructure. This role will involve preparing technical calculations, models, reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permit documentation in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities will include developing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models; assessing flood risks and drainage system performance; designing stormwater conveyance, storage, treatment, and erosion-control measures; interpreting survey, geotechnical, environmental, and GIS data; and coordinating field investigations and site assessments. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, while providing technical guidance to engineers and designers. The role may also include project coordination, scope and fee development, schedule and budget tracking, quality control reviews, and participation in meetings and presentations.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline and possess an active Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in the relevant jurisdiction. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in hydrology, hydraulics, water resources, stormwater, or transportation drainage design, along with proficiency in industry-standard modeling and design software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Civil 3D, GIS, or comparable tools. Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with floodplain regulations, permitting, construction support, and applicable federal, state, and local design criteria is highly desirable. Occasional travel to project sites and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team may be required.
