We are seeking a Senior Structural / Bridge Design Engineer to lead and deliver the design of bridges, highway structures and associated civil infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of complex schemes from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support and completion. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and other stakeholders to develop safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Your responsibilities will include preparing and checking structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and technical submissions in accordance with relevant design standards and project requirements. You will assess existing structures, develop strengthening and refurbishment solutions, and contribute to the design of reinforced concrete, steel, composite and prestressed structures. The role will also involve coordinating design interfaces, reviewing technical outputs, supporting bids and fee proposals, managing technical risks, and providing guidance to engineers and technicians. You may also be required to attend site visits, inspections and meetings, and support construction teams by responding to technical queries and reviewing proposed changes.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil or structural engineering and have substantial experience in bridge or structural design, ideally within a consultancy, contractor or engineering delivery environment. Professional registration, or a clear commitment to achieving it, is desirable. You will need strong knowledge of relevant bridge design codes, construction methods, assessment principles and health and safety requirements, together with experience using structural analysis and design software and industry-standard drawing packages. Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to agreed timescales. The successful candidate will be a proactive technical leader who can work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative project team.
