We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for a varied programme of work. Working closely with clients, suppliers, project managers and operational teams, you will assess requirements, review specifications and drawings, and develop clear cost proposals that support successful project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-focused professional who can balance commercial awareness with a practical understanding of project requirements.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing tender and enquiry documents, carrying out take-offs and measurements, obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and preparing detailed estimates, pricing schedules and supporting documentation. You will identify risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential cost savings, while ensuring estimates are produced within agreed timescales and in line with relevant standards and procedures. You will also assist with tender submissions, attend site visits and clarification meetings where required, and maintain accurate records of costs, rates and previous estimates. Once work is secured, you may support the handover to delivery teams and assist with variations, re-pricing and commercial queries.
Applicants should have previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or cost-planning role, ideally within a construction, engineering, manufacturing or related project environment. You will need strong numerical and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical information confidently. Good knowledge of estimating methods, procurement processes and relevant industry regulations is desirable. Experience using estimating, pricing or spreadsheet software will be advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing deadlines, work collaboratively and make sound commercial judgements. A proactive approach, professional integrity and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work are also required.
