We are seeking a Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and maintenance of infrastructure and construction projects. This role will suit a technically capable professional who can manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with project stakeholders and contribute to the successful completion of projects in line with quality, safety, budget and programme requirements.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, drawings and project documentation; undertaking site investigations, inspections and surveys; monitoring construction progress and verifying that works comply with approved designs, relevant standards and statutory requirements; and identifying and resolving technical issues as they arise. You will liaise with contractors, consultants, clients, local authorities and other internal and external stakeholders, providing clear engineering advice and maintaining accurate records. The role may also involve assisting with feasibility studies, cost estimates, procurement activities, risk assessments, variations, progress reports and project handover documentation.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have relevant experience in infrastructure, building, transport, water, drainage or related civil engineering projects. A strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, health and safety requirements, environmental considerations and applicable regulations is essential. You should be confident using standard design, project management and documentation software, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and produce accurate reports. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status would be advantageous. We are looking for a proactive, organised and collaborative individual with sound judgement, strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project and construction sites may be required.
