We are seeking a Staff Water Operations Specialist to provide technical leadership and operational support across water treatment, distribution, and related infrastructure. This role is suited to an experienced water professional who can combine hands-on operational knowledge with strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills. You will help ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient water services while supporting continuous improvement across operational activities.

Key responsibilities include monitoring and optimising water treatment and distribution processes; reviewing operational data, plant performance, alarms, and trends; identifying risks and implementing corrective actions; and supporting investigations into incidents, service interruptions, quality concerns, and equipment failures. You will develop and maintain operating procedures, technical guidance, contingency plans, and performance reports, while ensuring activities comply with relevant legislation, environmental requirements, health and safety standards, and internal controls. The role will also involve coordinating planned maintenance and shutdowns, contributing to asset management and renewal planning, reviewing designs and operational changes, and providing technical advice to operators, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in water or wastewater operations, treatment processes, network systems, or a closely related technical environment. A relevant qualification in water engineering, environmental science, process operations, or a similar discipline is desirable, together with knowledge of water quality principles, operational risk management, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety. You should be confident interpreting technical information and performance data, producing clear documentation, and making sound decisions in time-sensitive situations. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to coach others, influence improvements, and work effectively across multiple teams. A proactive approach, professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to public health, environmental protection, and reliable service delivery are expected.
