We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of major heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through completion. Working closely with the Project Manager, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, you will help coordinate day-to-day activities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost control. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to develop their project management expertise on complex infrastructure and civil works.
Key responsibilities will include assisting with project planning, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and progress tracking. You will review drawings, specifications, contracts, and change orders; coordinate subcontractor and supplier activities; prepare progress reports and meeting documentation; and support the resolution of technical, commercial, and logistical issues. You will also help monitor project milestones, identify potential delays or risks, maintain accurate records, and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. Regular communication with field personnel and project stakeholders will be essential, as will contributing to project meetings and maintaining clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will have experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, transportation, utilities, earthworks, concrete, or a related field, ideally with exposure to project coordination or assistant project management responsibilities. A degree, diploma, or equivalent training in construction management, civil engineering, engineering technology, or a related discipline is preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with construction scheduling, cost control, contract administration, document management systems, and standard project software will be considered an asset. A commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement is essential.
