We are seeking an experienced Deep Foundations Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of specialist foundation works on major construction and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will oversee site operations involving piling, ground improvement, drilling, excavation support and associated temporary works, ensuring activities are completed in accordance with approved designs, programmes, specifications and industry standards.
Key responsibilities will include supervising site teams, subcontractors and specialist plant operators; coordinating daily work activities with project management, engineering and construction teams; and monitoring productivity, resources, materials and equipment. You will review method statements, risk assessments, inspection and test plans, lifting plans and permits before works commence, while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, environmental and quality requirements. The role will also involve interpreting drawings and technical information, identifying construction issues, supporting design reviews, managing interfaces with other trades and recording progress through accurate daily reports. You will be expected to lead toolbox talks, investigate incidents or defects, implement corrective actions and contribute to programme recovery where necessary.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising deep foundation or heavy civil engineering operations, with a strong understanding of piling systems, foundation construction methods, ground conditions and site logistics. Previous experience in a senior supervisory or superintendent position is essential, together with the ability to manage multiple crews and make sound decisions in a demanding site environment. Relevant industry qualifications, site safety certification and competence in reading technical drawings and project documentation are required. Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills are essential, as is a practical, proactive approach to problem-solving. The role may require travel, extended shifts or rotational working, depending on project requirements.
