An experienced Superintendent is required to oversee night-time construction activities on a major project. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for coordinating site operations, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and ensuring works are delivered efficiently in line with the programme.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and the wider site team, you will provide clear direction throughout the shift. You will monitor progress, resolve issues as they arise and ensure that all activities are properly planned, resourced and documented before handover to the day team.
Key responsibilities Supervise and coordinate night-shift construction activities across the site. Lead subcontractors and site personnel, allocating tasks and monitoring performance. Ensure works are carried out safely, to the required specification and in accordance with the programme. Review method statements, risk assessments and permits before work begins. Carry out regular inspections and address quality, safety or productivity concerns promptly. Coordinate deliveries, plant, materials and site access arrangements during night operations. Maintain accurate shift records, progress reports and site documentation. Complete thorough handovers and communicate key updates, risks and outstanding actions to the day team. About youYou will have substantial experience supervising construction or infrastructure works, ideally within a complex or high-pressure environment. A strong understanding of health and safety requirements, construction sequencing and quality control is essential, together with the confidence to make sound decisions independently during night operations.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are required, as is the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders. You should be proactive, calm under pressure and committed to maintaining a safe, professional and productive site.
Relevant technical or supervisory qualifications, along with appropriate site safety training, would be advantageous. The position requires flexibility to work nights and occasional additional hours where project requirements dictate.
