We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex wastewater infrastructure and treatment projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will be responsible for managing project scope, programme, budget, quality, health and safety, and environmental performance while ensuring that all works meet contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements. Projects may include treatment plant upgrades, pumping stations, sewer networks, process improvements, and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining detailed project plans, coordinating design and construction activities, managing consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will identify and mitigate risks, resolve technical and commercial issues, oversee change control, and provide accurate financial and performance reporting. The role will also involve supporting procurement and tender processes, reviewing technical documentation, managing client and regulatory communications, and ensuring that commissioning, handover, and close-out activities are completed effectively. A strong focus on safe working practices, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction is essential.
Applicants should have proven experience managing wastewater, water, utilities, or major civil engineering projects, ideally within a regulated infrastructure or treatment environment. You will need a sound understanding of project management methodologies, construction processes, contract administration, and relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation. Strong commercial awareness, organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are required, together with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction, or project management is desirable. The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially minded, and capable of leading multidisciplinary teams while delivering high-quality outcomes to time and budget.
