We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient delivery of major water and wastewater facility projects across the southern region. This senior field leadership role is responsible for overseeing construction activities from mobilisation through commissioning, ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, quality standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will establish clear site expectations, promote a strong safety culture and provide direction to superintendents, forepersons, craft personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating self-perform and subcontracted work; reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules and work plans; monitoring productivity, costs, materials and equipment; and identifying risks, constraints and opportunities for improvement. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, owners, consultants and trade partners to resolve field issues, manage changes and maintain progress. The role also includes leading daily and weekly coordination meetings, supporting schedule development and updates, verifying quality-control processes, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring environmental and permit obligations are met. Regular travel, extended periods on active construction sites and work in varying weather conditions may be required.

Applicants should have substantial experience supervising large-scale water, wastewater, treatment plant, pumping station, pipeline or related heavy civil construction projects, with a proven record of successfully delivering complex work. Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety practices, quality management, contract administration and project controls is essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication, organisation, problem-solving and team-building skills, and is comfortable making timely decisions in a fast-paced environment. A degree, diploma or trade qualification in construction management, engineering or a related discipline is preferred, along with relevant safety training and extensive experience in a senior field leadership position. The ability to build productive relationships, mentor teams and uphold high professional standards is critical to success.
