We are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to contribute to the design, assessment and delivery of infrastructure projects across a range of sectors. This role would suit an engineer with solid consultancy or project-based experience who is ready to take greater ownership of technical delivery while continuing to develop professionally. You will work alongside senior engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to produce practical, safe and cost-effective structural solutions from concept through to construction.
Your responsibilities will include preparing structural calculations, analysis, drawings, specifications and technical reports for infrastructure assets such as bridges, transport structures, retaining walls, culverts, foundations and other civil structures. You will assist with inspections, condition assessments and site investigations, identify structural risks, and recommend appropriate repair, strengthening or replacement solutions. The role will also involve coordinating with clients, contractors and other design disciplines, reviewing technical information, responding to site queries and supporting the delivery of projects to agreed scope, programme and budget. You may also contribute to developing junior team members and maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety and technical compliance.
Applicants should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and have relevant experience in infrastructure design, assessment or construction support. Experience with reinforced concrete, steel, masonry or geotechnical interfaces would be advantageous, as would familiarity with applicable design standards, codes and inspection procedures. Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, CAD or BIM platforms, and standard office applications is expected. You should be able to communicate clearly, write concise technical documentation and manage priorities across multiple assignments. A methodical approach, sound engineering judgement, commercial awareness and a commitment to professional development are essential. Progress towards chartered or equivalent professional status is desirable, along with the ability to work collaboratively and occasionally travel to project or site locations.
