Installation Manager - Hydropower Equipment Manufacturer (USA - Various Locations)
We are partnering with a leading hydropower equipment manufacturer delivering major hydroelectric projects across the United States. Due to ongoing project awards, we are seeking an experienced Installation Manager to oversee the on-site erection and installation of large electromechanical equipment packages.
This is a long-term, site-based leadership role supporting flagship hydropower developments nationwide.

The Installation Manager will represent the equipment manufacturer on site and assume full responsibility for the safe, compliant, and technically correct installation of hydro turbines, generators, and associated auxiliary systems.
The position sits at the interface between the OEM engineering team, the civil contractor, and the project owner. You will ensure installation activities align with design specifications, quality standards, and commissioning schedules.
This is a critical delivery role requiring strong technical knowledge of hydro equipment and proven experience managing site installation teams on complex infrastructure projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise on-site installation of turbines, generators, governors, penstocks, gates, and auxiliary mechanical systems
Manage installation supervisors, specialist technicians, and subcontractors
Ensure installation activities comply with OEM procedures, technical drawings, and quality requirements
Coordinate closely with civil contractors to manage interfaces, tolerances, and embedded components
Monitor installation progress against programme and support recovery planning where required
Oversee alignment checks, mechanical clearances, torqueing procedures, and assembly verification
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities
Ensure strict adherence to HSE standards and safe systems of work
Report progress, risks, and technical issues to project management and headquarters engineering teams
Act as the primary technical point of contact between site stakeholders and the equipment manufacturer
Key RequirementsProven experience as an Installation Manager, Site Manager, or Senior Erection Supervisor on large hydropower projects
Strong background with hydro turbine and generator installation (Francis, Kaplan, or Pelton experience preferred)
Demonstrated experience working for or closely with a hydropower OEM
Solid understanding of heavy lifting operations, precision alignment, and rotating equipment assembly
Experience managing multi-disciplinary installation teams on complex infrastructure sites
Strong working knowledge of installation quality control and commissioning interfaces
Ability to commit to full-time site presence for the duration of the project
Fluency in English required
ContractLong-term contract (18-24 months depending on project scope)
