We are seeking an experienced Drinking Water Project Manager to lead the planning, delivery and successful completion of projects that support the reliable supply of safe, high-quality drinking water. This role will oversee projects from initial concept and feasibility through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. You will manage programmes, budgets, risks and resources while ensuring that all activities meet regulatory, technical, environmental and health and safety requirements.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, contractors, consultants and operational stakeholders; preparing and maintaining project plans, schedules, cost forecasts and risk registers; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones and performance targets. You will oversee procurement and contract administration, manage variations and resolve issues promptly, and provide clear reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve supporting asset planning, water quality improvement initiatives, treatment works, network upgrades, storage facilities and other infrastructure projects. You will promote effective communication with internal and external partners and help ensure that projects are delivered with minimal disruption to customers and communities.
Applicants should have proven experience managing complex water, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally within a drinking water or regulated environment. A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, project management, environmental science or a related discipline is desirable, together with formal project management training or certification. You will need strong commercial, financial and contract management skills, sound knowledge of health and safety and regulatory compliance, and the ability to interpret technical information and make informed decisions. Excellent organisation, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills are essential. The successful candidate will be proactive, collaborative and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on quality, value for money and successful project outcomes.
