We are seeking an experienced Director (PE), Water/Wastewater to lead the delivery of complex water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects. This senior role will provide technical direction, operational leadership, and strategic oversight across project planning, design, construction, commissioning, and asset improvement programmes. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with public and private sector clients, regulators, contractors, and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities will include developing and managing a high-performing engineering team; overseeing technical standards, design quality, risk management, and project controls; reviewing and approving engineering deliverables; and supporting business development through client engagement, proposals, presentations, and strategic planning. You will help identify growth opportunities, contribute to investment and resource decisions, and promote innovative approaches to treatment, collection, conveyance, water reuse, resilience, and environmental compliance. The role will also involve monitoring programme performance, resolving complex technical and commercial issues, mentoring professionals, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, permits, codes, and health and safety requirements.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or a related engineering discipline, together with active Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent professional licensure. Significant experience leading water and/or wastewater projects is essential, including responsibility for multidisciplinary teams, budgets, schedules, and client outcomes. Strong knowledge of treatment processes, hydraulic systems, infrastructure planning, construction delivery, and regulatory requirements is required. Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage competing priorities. Experience with programme management, design-build delivery, asset management, or utility operations would be advantageous. Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and stakeholder events may be required.
