EWI are supporting a leading Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) manufacturer in the search for an Operational Crane Manager to support wind turbine installation projects in Sweden. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and safe execution of all lifting activities on site, ensuring compliance with project requirements, lifting plans, and industry safety standards.
Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all crane and lifting operations on site.Ensure lifting activities are carried out in accordance with approved lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements.Verify crane suitability, certifications, inspections, and maintenance records prior to use.Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with site safety procedures and applicable regulations.Coordinate crane operators, riggers, banksmen, and subcontractors involved in lifting activities.Conduct site inspections to assess lifting areas, ground bearing pressures, access routes, and crane positioning.Lead lifting operation briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.Review and approve lifting plans for complex and critical lifts.Investigate lifting-related incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, implementing corrective actions where required.Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to lifting operations.Work closely with the Site Manager and wider project team to ensure lifting activities support the project programme.Promote a strong safety culture across all lifting operations.Requirements
Proven experience in an Operational Crane Manager, Lift Supervisor, Appointed Person, Crane Coordinator, or similar role.Previous experience within the wind energy industry, ideally supporting wind turbine installation projects.Strong understanding of crane operations, heavy lifting, rigging practices, and lifting safety regulations.Experience reviewing and approving lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).Relevant crane, lifting, or appointed person qualifications/certifications.Good knowledge of HSE requirements and best practices relating to heavy lifting activities.Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and lifting teams in a fast-paced construction environment.Fluent English language skills.Full driving licence.Willingness to work on a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation.Valid right to work within the European Union is required.ewi is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer. ewi is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
