We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Manager – Roads & Traffic to lead the delivery of high-quality civil infrastructure designs across a range of road, transport and urban development projects. This role will oversee design activities from concept through to detailed design and construction support, ensuring solutions are safe, practical, cost-effective and compliant with relevant standards, legislation and approval requirements.

You will manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants and external stakeholders, while maintaining clear communication across all project stages. Key responsibilities will include reviewing design briefs, developing design programmes, allocating resources, monitoring budgets and managing technical risks. You will provide technical direction on road geometry, pavements, drainage, traffic management, intersections, active transport facilities and associated civil infrastructure. The role will also involve checking and approving technical documentation, contributing to tender and procurement activities, supporting construction teams, and resolving design issues in a timely and practical manner.

To be successful, you will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have substantial experience in roads, traffic or transport infrastructure design, ideally within a consultancy, contractor or public infrastructure environment. Professional registration or progress towards registration will be highly regarded. You will have strong knowledge of relevant design standards, specifications, road safety principles and industry software, along with demonstrated experience using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12d or equivalent platforms. Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement and written and verbal communication skills are essential. The ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities and build positive relationships with clients and project partners will be critical to your success.
