We are seeking an Assistant Preconstruction Manager to support the successful planning, pricing and preparation of construction projects from initial opportunity through to contract award. Working closely with project managers, estimators, design consultants, subcontractors and clients, you will help ensure that proposals are accurate, competitive, commercially sound and aligned with project requirements.
Key responsibilities will include reviewing tender and contract documentation, drawings and specifications; coordinating the preparation of estimates, budgets and cost plans; obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations; preparing bid packages and tender schedules; and maintaining accurate records of assumptions, exclusions, clarifications and commercial risks. You will assist with constructability reviews, value engineering exercises, project programmes and logistics planning, while monitoring design development and identifying potential cost or delivery impacts. The role will also involve attending tender meetings, site visits and design coordination sessions, supporting presentations and handovers, and ensuring relevant information is communicated clearly to delivery teams.
The successful candidate will have experience in preconstruction, estimating, quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline, ideally within a main contracting, specialist contracting or consultancy environment. Strong knowledge of construction methods, procurement processes, pricing and commercial principles is preferred, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and schedules. You should be highly organised, analytical and detail-focused, with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in estimating, scheduling and document management software is advantageous. This is an opportunity for a motivated construction professional to develop their commercial and project management expertise while contributing to the delivery of complex, high-quality projects.
