We are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support the delivery of civil engineering projects from initial concept through to construction and completion. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers, you will contribute to the preparation of designs, technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications for a range of infrastructure, development or construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to build practical experience while developing strong technical and project management skills.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with site investigations, surveys, feasibility studies and design development; preparing and reviewing engineering drawings and documentation; supporting drainage, highways, earthworks, utilities or structural design activities; and completing design calculations in accordance with relevant standards and regulations. You will liaise with colleagues, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders, attend site visits and meetings, monitor progress, and help identify and resolve technical issues. You may also assist with cost estimates, programme updates, risk assessments, tender information and construction support, while maintaining accurate project records and ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Applicants should hold, or be working towards, a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Some experience gained through employment, placements or internships is desirable, along with a basic understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, health and safety requirements and relevant technical standards. Familiarity with design and project software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, drainage modelling tools or similar systems would be advantageous. You should be able to interpret technical information, demonstrate sound numerical and analytical skills, and communicate clearly in writing and in person. A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential. Support will be provided towards continued professional development and progression.
