Overview
We are currently supporting a leading player in the renewable energy sector to identify and hire a Senior Investment Associate. This position is based in Nairobi and offers the opportunity to be part of a high-impact team focused on scaling clean and reliable power solutions across East and West Africa.
The successful candidate will support both strategic and operational financial initiatives, including corporate fundraising, project financing, asset management, and broader business strategy development. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a passion for energy and infrastructure to work on complex, high-value transactions and contribute to Africa's energy transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Structuring and Fundraising
Support equity and debt investor processes, including due diligence, Q&A, and transaction execution
Assist with the structuring of corporate and project-level debt, including local currency and HoldCo debt
Contribute to the development of strategies around capital deployment and drawdown management
Support structuring of non-commercial guarantees and ensure compliance with investor disbursement criteria
Financial Modelling and Investment Analysis
Develop and improve financial models used across the organization
Collaborate with commercial leads to ensure model accuracy and usability
Review and provide input on financial models at key investment decision stages
Support expansion and reinvestment analysis for existing projects
Strategic Finance and Asset Management
Help shape long-term capital structure strategy (e.g., debt/equity ratios, FX risk, treasury, lender management)
Track project asset performance and assist in strategic project evaluations
Support financial aspects of operational projects and cross-functional initiatives
Corporate Strategy and Special Projects
Provide input into business strategy across distributed generation and commercial/industrial segments
Contribute to pricing, business model development, and entity structuring
Lead or support strategic projects aligned with company objectives
Candidate Profile
Experience and Expertise
2-4 years' experience in project finance, investment, or infrastructure within energy, utilities, or advisory settings
Strong background in structuring project or corporate finance transactions in emerging markets
Solid understanding of PPAs, EPC/O&M contracts, concession frameworks, and infrastructure finance
Experience working with international banks, DFIs, advisory firms, or private equity funds
Proven project management skills and ability to manage cross-functional initiatives
Skills and Attributes
Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex business environments
Strong financial modelling, analytical, and communication skills
Fluent in English; French is a plus
Comfortable working across diverse cultures and with remote teams
High integrity, curiosity, self-drive, and a strong bias toward action
