Senior Rail Systems Expert - Rail Project (Canada)

EWI are searching for an expert in rail signaling and systems, ready to take on a pivotal role in exciting rail infrastructure projects across Canada. We're seeking a Senior Rail Systems Expert to join a leading global engineering and consulting firm renowned for delivering innovative, sustainable transportation solutions.


As a Senior Rail Systems Expert, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in rail signaling and systems engineering. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, review, and implement cutting-edge rail control and safety systems, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and technical review of signaling and train control systems for rail projects

  • Develop and oversee system integration plans, including interfaces with track, power, and communications systems

  • Ensure compliance with applicable rail industry standards and safety regulations

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver project objectives on time and within budget

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and project teams

  • Participate in risk assessments, system testing, and commissioning activities

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in rail signaling and systems engineering, ideally within North American rail projects

  • Deep understanding of signaling technologies (e.g., CBTC, ETCS, ATP, interlocking) and control systems

  • Proven track record in leading technical design reviews and system integration

  • Strong knowledge of rail safety standards, regulations, and best practices

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, with relevant professional certifications considered an asset
