Position Location: Hybrid - Texas (Up to 25% travel to project sites)
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Estimator supports the Senior Estimator in determining equipment quantities, evaluating cost components, reviewing contractual terms, and preparing detailed bids for renewable energy construction projects. This role plays a key part in developing competitive proposals that align with project goals and client expectations.
What You Bring
College diploma in estimating, construction, or a bachelor's degree in engineering
Minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating; field/site experience is a plus
Strong interest in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure
Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal
Skilled in MS Project and Excel; familiarity with Bid2Win is a bonus
Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking and intellectual curiosity
Independent, adaptable, and solution-focused
Able to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
Key Responsibilities
Document & Scope Review
Review construction drawings, specifications, tender forms, and contractual documentation
Gather all required documents for estimate development
Identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities and report findings to the Chief Estimator
Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with external consultants during preliminary engineering phases
Help evaluate technical options based on cost, availability, and quality
Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and clarifications to clients
Maintain continuous communication with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors during the bidding phase
Estimate Preparation
Create a preliminary plan for project execution, including construction methods and sequencing
Develop a draft work schedule to optimize resource allocation and timelines
Prepare and issue bid packages to vendors and subcontractors
Analyze and compare proposals from external parties to determine the best value
Use internal tools to perform detailed quantity takeoffs (e.g., volumes, lengths, surface areas)
Visit project sites and participate in coordination meetings to assess constructability
Cost & Bid Development
Compile comprehensive project cost estimates using in-house software tools
Account for indirect costs such as supervision, general conditions, equipment, insurance, safety, and quality requirements
Organize estimates according to standardized cost breakdown structures
Contribute to the bid closing process and ensure submissions are complete and accurate
Archive submissions and conduct post-bid evaluations to capture lessons learned
Project Handoff
Participate in internal transition meetings to support the construction team once the project has been awarded
