About the Client:
Our client is a leading construction company delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across North America. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join their team on a high-profile civil bridge project based in Vancouver, Canada. This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the region's most prominent infrastructure developments with a dynamic and forward-thinking organization.

Role Overview:
As the Senior Cost Controller, you will play a critical role in managing project financials, ensuring cost efficiency, and supporting the project team in delivering the project on time and within budget. You will be responsible for overseeing all cost control processes, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and change management, while maintaining compliance with client and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the project cost control system, including budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking tools.

  • Prepare and update detailed cost reports and cash flow projections.

  • Monitor project expenditures, commitments, and forecast final project costs.

  • Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions to ensure cost efficiency.

  • Manage cost control activities related to subcontractors, materials, and direct labor.

  • Implement change management processes, including evaluation of cost impacts for scope changes.

  • Liaise with the project management team to provide cost analysis and financial insights.

  • Collaborate with the procurement and commercial teams to review contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.

  • Prepare monthly cost reports and participate in client reporting meetings.

  • Identify risks and opportunities related to project costs and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, contractual requirements, and financial procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost control or project controls within the construction industry, ideally on large-scale civil infrastructure or bridge projects.

  • Strong understanding of cost control methodologies, budget management, and change management processes.

  • Experience working with major contractors or project management consultancies.

  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP, CostX, or equivalent).

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Canadian construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards would be beneficial. International profiles are welcome.

  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or MRICS would be an asset.
