Field Service Engineer - T&D (Contract)

Location: UK & Europe (Onshore & Offshore roles available)
Contract Duration: 6-12 months
Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview:
We are working with an international OEM to recruit a Field Service Engineer for a contract opportunity within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector of the wind industry. The successful candidate will support onshore and offshore wind farm projects across the UK and Europe, providing hands-on technical expertise for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of T&D systems, ensuring reliable integration and operation of wind farm infrastructure within the electrical grid.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site technical support for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of T&D systems in onshore and offshore wind farm projects.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical equipment such as transformers, substations, high-voltage cables, and grid connections.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics of T&D systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and optimal performance.
  • Identify and resolve system faults or performance issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring that all electrical systems are operating efficiently.
  • Collaborate with project teams, OEMs, and contractors to ensure T&D systems are installed and maintained correctly according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide technical reports and feedback to engineering teams, identifying potential improvements to enhance the performance of T&D systems.
  • Work independently on service calls and escalate technical issues to senior engineers as needed.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company procedures.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to operations and maintenance teams on the proper care and operation of T&D systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer with T&D systems, preferably within the wind industry.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and T&D infrastructure, including transformers, substations, and grid connections.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with both onshore and offshore wind farm environments.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.
  • Offshore certification (e.g., BOSIET, CA-EBS) for offshore roles.
  • Valid right to work in the UK and/or Europe.
