We are proud to be exclusively partnering with a major player in the energy infrastructure sector in their search for a highly experienced Senior Dam Engineer to join their expert team based in Switzerland. This role offers the chance to take the technical lead on prestigious dam projects, driving innovation and ensuring the highest standards of structural integrity and safety across embankment and concrete dams, from initial feasibility studies through to construction and commissioning.
The Role
As a Senior Dam Engineer, you will:
Lead the design, engineering, and technical supervision of embankment and concrete dams, from conceptual design through detailed design, tendering, construction, and operation phases.
Perform comprehensive dam safety assessments and risk analyses, applying both static and dynamic evaluations to ensure compliance with international best practices and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hydrologists, geotechnical engineers, structural specialists, and environmental experts, to deliver integrated project solutions.
Oversee structural stability analyses under various loading conditions, including seismic, hydrostatic, and operational loads.
Develop and review technical specifications, construction drawings, reports, and documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to project goals.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant international standards and guidelines, including FOEN, ICOLD, USBR, and other regulatory bodies.
Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and project reviews, providing expert advice and recommendations.
Be willing to travel internationally for site inspections, project meetings, and short- to mid-term assignments as needed.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a dynamic and technically skilled engineer who possesses:
MSc in Civil Engineering (a PhD specializing in dam engineering, geotechnical or structural engineering is a strong advantage).
A minimum of 8 years of direct experience in dam engineering, ideally across both Swiss and international projects.
A solid track record in the design, construction supervision, inspection, and rehabilitation of embankment and concrete dams.
Advanced proficiency in performing static, dynamic, and seismic analyses of dam structures, including numerical modeling techniques.
Deep knowledge of international dam engineering standards and regulations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and clients.
Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or German is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.
