Job Title: Switchgear Installation & Testing Engineer
GE is seeking experienced engineers to join our team, specializing in the installation, commissioning, and testing of AIS (Air-Insulated Switchgear) and GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) equipment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of power systems by delivering high-quality grid infrastructure solutions. Strong expertise in disconnectors and practical experience with power transformers will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the installation, commissioning, and testing of AIS and GIS switchgear in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulationsConduct thorough inspections, maintenance, and functional testing of disconnectors, ensuring optimal performance and reliabilityCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to switchgear and power transformers during installation and operationSupport integration and testing of power transformers, including routine checks and diagnostics to verify performance within the grid systemPrepare detailed documentation, test reports, and commissioning records, ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocolsWork closely with project management and site teams to coordinate schedules, resources, and logistics for switchgear installation activitiesParticipate in risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to maintain a safe working environment on-siteProvide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians during installation and testing phasesPreferred Experience:Proven hands-on experience with the installation, commissioning, and testing of AIS and GIS switchgear across various projectsIn-depth technical knowledge of disconnectors, including operational principles, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting techniquesPractical experience with power transformers, including installation, testing, and performance evaluationFamiliarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (IEC, ANSI, IEEE) related to switchgear and transformer equipmentStrong understanding of electrical protection and control systems associated with switchgearExperience working in a multidisciplinary team environment within the energy or utility sectorAbility to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsExcellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challengesStrong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reportsewi is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer. ewi is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
