Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commissioning Engineer to oversee the commissioning of protection relay monitoring systems, including relay configuration updates, testing, and integration tasks. This role requires technical expertise in relay commissioning, system testing, and the preparation of technical reports. The successful candidate will work closely with the project management team to ensure all tasks are executed efficiently, on time, and meet the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning of Protection Relay Monitoring System:
Lead the commissioning of protection relay monitoring systems, specifically using the GPG system.
Ensure all protection relays are properly configured, tested, and integrated.
Provide detailed reports on commissioning activities and any issues encountered during the process.
Relay Configuration Updates:
Update protection relay settings and configurations according to project requirements.
Verify all configuration updates are successfully implemented and fully functional.
Relay Measurement Tests:
Conduct and oversee relay measurement tests to ensure compliance with performance standards.
Document results and troubleshoot any discrepancies or failures.
Circuit Breaker (CB) Trip/Control Testing:
Perform testing of CB trip and control functionality as part of the commissioning process.
Ensure CB operation aligns with technical specifications and safety standards.
Signals and Control from SCADA Testing:
Test and validate signals sent to SCADA systems, as well as control functionality from SCADA systems.
Ensure communication between relays and SCADA is fully operational.
PMU Testing:
Oversee and execute Protection Measurement Unit (PMU) testing, ensuring all data points are correctly captured and transmitted.
Report Preparation and Documentation:
Prepare, review, and sign off on test reports for all activities related to the commissioning process.
Maintain clear and accurate records of all tests, configurations, and updates.
Customer Training:
Provide training to the client on protection relays and monitoring systems, ensuring they are knowledgeable in system operation and troubleshooting.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of commissioning tasks.
Report progress daily, and submit weekly timesheets as required.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all applicable safety regulations and environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements.
Ensure that all activities are performed according to company policies and compliance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Proven experience in commissioning protection relay monitoring systems.
Strong understanding of relay configuration, protection relay systems, and related technologies.
Experience with SCADA systems, circuit breaker testing, and protection relay measurement tests.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
